Dining by the Bay

Sabai, which translates as "good" has a new restaurant by the bay or more specifically, Customs House. While we have heard good reviews about the refined Thai food, thought it was a good opportunity to validate this hearsay for my mom's birthday.

Verdict: It gives Patara a run for its money and there were a number of memorable dishes. My family really liked the honey ribs while the duck curry was lovely and the flavour was further enhanced by the chopped up pineapples and lychees. The highlight (for me) was the deceptively simple stir fried morning glory aka kang kong. There was a good balance of flavours and it's amazing how they could make vegetables taste so good. The olive fried rice also deserves a scrumptious worthy mention.

In view of the petite portions, we were also able to work our way through a good variety of dishes which worked out well for me. *beams*

However, be prepared to pay premium prices (minimum $40 per pax) and one might find this less value for money - each stuffed chicken wing costs $4 each!

From starters to mains [from bottom left, clockwise]: Stuffed chicken wings, Mango salad, Prawn cakes, Honey pork ribs, Duck curry and stir fried morning glory.

So-so Phad Thai

With the exception of the disappointing Phad Thai, there were more highlights than blah dining moments. While I'm glad we finally managed to taste this for ourselves, it might just be a rare indulgence.
