DC Cupcakes

A baker I am not. Yet, I have been strangely hooked on this reality TV show about 2 bakers who give up their high powered careers to pursue their passion and open a bakery, Georgetown Cupcake.

Following them on their journey as they navigate the challenges and rewards of building a business, it's fascinating watching them at their creative best, customizing these cupcake creations according to the occasion. Observing them makes me slightly more appreciative of the hard work that goes behind these edible cupcake creations. Recalling my cupcake tier, now I know why these tiny things cost so much!

Skills aside, it's always heartwarming to watch people pursue their passions. While I don't kid myself in thinking I might become one of them (in view of the very little passion I have for anything in particular), it's nice to be able to courageously step outside our comfort zone and take a risk just for once.

Reminds me of this other inspirational sharing I once heard from the founder of School of Thought and Food for Thought who wanted to make a difference by providing socially responsible education as well as running a socially conscious restaurant. The difference passion can bring to our lives...

"Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference"
- The Road Not Taken, Robert Frost
