One Last Hurraahhh

Haven't had many hen night experiences but it has ranged from tame (that's mine) to a chocolate-themed night and even a memorable cruise-to no-where bbq.

For those who are planning or getting one, the possibilities as follows:
  • Themed night: All participants come dressed as Sex and the City characters or some other fun get-up. Er..haven't had any star wars one yet but I guess there could always be a first.
  • Games night: There's this card game for brides-to-be and throughout the night, they have to pick a card and follow the instructions while her friends just have fun and laugh.
  • Quiz night: Give the bride a pop quiz on her fiancee's likes and dislikes and compare that with his real answer. Would suggest abandoning this idea if one doesn't know the other half well. I once had to do the quiz (as part of the entire entourage) even though I had never met the groom. That was tough..I obviously failed spectacularly.
  • Tame night: Just eat, drink and be happy while brainstorming on a to-do list for groom and xiong-di.
In view of my limited experience, feel free to add on if you have had other more 'fun' nights. =)

Anyways...back to my dear friend's slightly traumatising experience. Her sisters decided she needed an early hen's night (one month before!) in view of possible intoxication contributing to stomach flu which might cause her to be out of action for awhile. Amazing how a string of unfortunate incidents can result in one very sick bride.

Afer much discussion, we decided to congregate at Oasis@Hyatt for a hearty meal followed by drinks at Clarke Quay.

What was great about Oasis was the free flow of grilled meats, local staples like char kway teow as well as starters to get one's gastric juices flowing. To top it off, there was decadent brownie and ice cream as well as free flow of alcoholic beverages like margaritas, wines and beers. It's the sort of place which a variety-loving foodie like me appreciates...

Tucked away in the heart of Orchard Road lies a restaurant with great ambience and a delightful bbq buffet!

My top grilled choices would be the sausages, chicken cutlet, lamb, squid and steak. The char kway teow was quite decent although it was a herculean effort for me to stop wasting my stomach space on cheap calories.

Check out our cute devilish horns!

Flourishing our feather boas...

Getting a very harrassed bride-to-be to roll a pair of dice with instructions like "Kiss Bald Guy". For the record, nothing happened...

I actually felt quite sorry for my friend. Expecting a similar hen's night experience like mine, she was abit stunned when the veil and feather boas appeared. By the time we made our way to the night club, I think she finally realised it was NOT going to be a simple and quiet affair.

Nevertheless, she survived this well enough and one day, she might just be able to look back at this episode without cringing too much. *pats friend reassuringly*
