Brides POW WOW

My friend was getting married in 3 weeks and we decided to conduct a quick review of her wedding progress as well as do a stocktake of what needed to be done. I was supposed to be useful in view of my prior experience...=P

Admittedly, there was a sense of deja vu when she lamented about all that needed to be done as well as the hassle of having to decide about every single little thing. *nods sympathetically*

However, the real million dollar question came when she sought advice on getting the other half to do more in view of my past angst and brittle emotions leading up to the big day.

Unfortunately, I wasn't of much help in dishing out the advice. I had concluded (at some point in time) that if something was important enough to us as brides, the most reliable approach was to just do it yourself. Any delegation to the other half would be either tasks that have less critical timelines or areas which they have a personal interest in eg. buying the wine or getting their suit.

I might be speaking biasedly but do think this is really pragmatic advice. When it comes to managing ninny pple like me, the easiest solution is to do it yourself or get friends (whom you trust) to do it.

In view of such serious business, we headed to Double Bay for some comfort food as we convened our POW WOW session:

My positive gastronomic experience: The barramundi fish pie that triggered my return to Double Bay!

Left side: Fish & Chips (fried in some herb batter) and my 'premium Australian meats' pie. Right side: Sticky Date Pudding and Banoffe pie which tasted great although the portions were WAY TOO TINY.

Although I don't think I was much help, at least I provided a sympathetic listening ear for some good old lamenting and unloading of frustrated thoughts. With such great food (and me) for company...think she emerged feeling slightly better. *beams*

Post note: Speaking of delegation, I am now assigned the role of event coordinator in view of my past experience...can feel the stress returning once again. *gulps* Will keep all posted how this goes.
