Ed's Day

More accurately, this was a WEEK of celebrations and it all started with an idea for a kungfu panda cake. As I searched for the right platform to showcase this cake, realised tat there were various celebrations being planned by Ed's ex and current colleagues which I was more than happy to ride on. *happy hops*

Getting the idea translated to reality was another story. In the ensuing days, there were a number of noteworthy moments ranging from:
  • Getting a baker for the cake - "I can't do kungfu panda due to licensing issues but I can create a panda doing kungfu." *bemused*
  • Getting Ed to his surprise dinner venue - He kept insisting on Raffles Grill while I insisted back that it should be saved for the actual birthday date and we should go to Brussel Sprouts instead.
  • Getting the birthday bao ready - He thought I was alittle deranged to be buying so many char siew bao that fateful morning while I drily said I needed it for division (note the generic use of this word) breakfast.
Thanks to everyone who made Ed's birthday so much more memorable...he definitely felt loved. =)

The infamous panda: check out its kungfu stance and dim sum platter as well as the cute bamboo detailing...

Surprise no. 1: Ed's ex and current division mates at Brussel Sprouts...nothing like beer, mussels and unlimited fries rounded up with great apple spiced cake.

Surprise no. 2: A pyramid of 大包 and 叉烧包 birthday platter. Unfortunately, we were "caught in the act" and never got round to surprising him with this. *oh well*

Ed's current division...

Dinner at Raffles Grill: He finally got what he wanted! And the food was good as always...LOVE a hearty steak while he rather enjoyed his atas mac and cheese side.

Surprise no. 3: Kudos to the good service. I had erroroneously made reservations at another restaurant within Raffles Hotel and when they graciously called up Raffles Grill for us, they also passed on the message that it was Ed's birthday.

Surprise no. 4: Dinner at his friend's place and finishing off with strawberry shortcake from Flor Patissere. The cake was wonderfully light and for a non cream-lover like me, this was surprisingly palatable!

Can check out the full week's happenings on Facebook. =)
