Weekend of Gallivanting

In view of the long weekend, we (or more accurately I) decided to maximize our time and engage in activities outside our usual lounging. Starting with Friday's original db burger excursion followed by a sojourn to the East where we cycled/bladed at East Coast Park and hunted down this famous Mee Pok (dry) at Jalan Tua Kong.

Post eating and fact checking with a few foodie blogs, realised we had eaten at the competitor's outlet while the original store had moved to Bedok! Oh well, it was a good experience anyways and the mee pok was better than normal. However, this would not be a POV driver (for me) unless I happen to be in the vicinity.

We also had a chance to try Les Saveurs at St Regis thanks to Ed's cousin who had a voucher for another tummy bursting meal. Apart from the lovely presentation, the key highlights for me were the deceptively simple split pea soup (where there was alot of fan fare in the pouring) and the lamb couscous which was not too gamey while the pumpkin puree was nice. While this was a pleasant dining experience, think we'll wait for another voucher/special promotion before returning.

Strolling around MBS: Spotted winged shoes at Adidas which brings a whole new meaning to being fleet footed while Aura by Swaroski had an innovative way of giving out fragrance samples. Finally, an interesting shoe-stopping sculpture by Ferragamo.

Morning out at East Coast Park: Post strenuous exercise, we happily carbo loaded at this famous mee pok store at Siglap.

La Saveurs at St Regis: starting with Hors D'oeuvre comprising of honey dew and fried cheese, starter of european tomatoes and red mullet tartare. Check out the pretty decor, plating and yes, the bread and salted butter was scrumptious.

Remaining courses: For mains we had either Cod or Lamb couscous while the split pea soup was as good as it looked! Dessert was a chocolate bar which was alright I guess...
Even though we are now aching all over and the ravages of age is quite apparent, it has been a good weekend! Heading off to roll around and nurse my blisters. *rubs bloated tummy*
