This was our first Japanese "degustation" experience and we were looking forward to being wow-ed by the food in addition to the pretty presentation.
It was a good introduction to the world of Kaiseki sets and it never fails to amaze me how good the Japanese are at making 'simple' and 'wholesome' taste so good. My favourite food moments were the homemade beancurd as well as the simmered lotus root with eel.
Working our way through the various courses [starting from top, left clockwise]: Otsukuri (raw fish), Seasonal clear soup, simmered lotus root with eel, grilled fish and homemade beancurd mashed with prawn and vegetable top with sharksfin sauceMini chirashi bowl - other than the white foamy roe (I think) which wasn't quite to my liking, fresh sashimi never fails to perk me up.
finishing off with fruits
As we worked through the various courses, was also trying to eye other tables' orders to check out their food. Some other dishes that looked promising include the tempura as well as the teppanyaki.
All in all, we had a great foodie adventure while I think Ed was quite happy with his new golf bag and polo tee. *beams*
