New Beginnings

Early last month, I was forced to pack up my desk as we prepared to shift to the Pit Building while our office underwent renovation.

It was a cathartic moment for me as I packed up 8 years of junk into 2 boxes. While I have attempted to de-clutter before, somehow I do have an uncanny ability to hoard accumulate stuff such that my desk has become a rag and bone man's dream.

Although I like to think that (1) my desk was an organized mess and (2) there was an order in all that madness, the untidy clutter had become life threatening. I started to trip within my cubicle while the only space that one could see was where my laptop sat. Thus, this was a timely opportunity for me to grit my teeth and start throwing stuff out as we made way for an open office concept with smaller desk space.

After all that frantic packing, just glad I managed to meet the moving deadline just in time (as always).

After all that frenzied packing, my life in 2 boxes...even I am amazed at myself.

The zoo at my cubicle...

Having a cuppa at the Naspresso machine and the relocated animal farm at my desk...

The adjustment to a smaller desk was actually much better than expected. While naysayers have remarked that it's unlikely for me to maintain this neatness, I'm determined that this desk should stay this way as long as possible.

Thus far, it's 2 weeks and counting...
