Changing Seasons

Just like that, 6 months have passed and it dawned on me this week that China beckons in approximately 6 weeks. Where has all that time gone?

Since we first made the decision about moving, it has been a smooth journey thus far as I give thanks and remember how:

  • We found a place in Beijing (in spite of the competition and rising rental prices)
  • God had carried me through my GMAT (when I thought I would get nowhere)
  • I managed to complete my application form for the IMBA programme and meet the deadline (in spite of my snail's pace progress)
  • Ed and I have coped better than expected with the time apart (4.5 months and counting!)
While much remains to be sorted out on the home front and I am cognizant that time isn't always on my side, can't help but be reminded that I have been abundantly blessed.

For the sake of keeping track, my to-do list as follows:

  • Awaiting Tsinghua: Leading up to my second interview last weekend, I was fretting off and on about what to expect and what to say. While I was initially indifferent about studying, started getting more excited as I read through the curriculum and imagined the possibilities. It would be great taking the academic route for the next 2 years and I do hope I get in.
  • Finding good tenants: Even though I'm mentally preparing myself for the need to renovate post return, would ideally like to keep this to a minimum. And so the search continues...
  • Sorting out the paperwork: Ranging from my work visa to health check-up, passport application, there's a ton of applications to fill up. Trying to stay focussed and keep prioritizing!
  • Handing over: As I prepare to leave, intend to scope out all that needs to be done and equip the team to be self sufficient. Recognizing that everyone is capable enough, perhaps it's time to let go and remember that I'm dispensable.

So here I am, getting ready for a new season...as I wonder what lies ahead. *gulps*

Post note: Not sure why, but somehow people seem to have differing ideas of when I would be in Beijing ranging from Christmas to New Year followed by after Chinese New Year. For the record, I'm looking at a post Good Friday departure. [end of media statement]
