Alas, due to pressure from above, a colleague and I decided to bite the bullet and join a fellow division at their table. Little did we know, this was the beginning of yet another combative (and competitive) night to come.
While I think last year's 包租婆 really takes the cake in terms of all time WORST dressed, this year's get-up was truly a worthy first runner up thanks to equally eager colleagues who were determined to go all out and make an impact.
In-line with this year's theme, "When Policeman Wore Shorts" (according to wikipedia, it could be interpreted as life within the 1945 - 1971 period), we opted to go as neighbours living in 1960s Singapore reflecting the days of our lives. Dressing wise, not only did we manage to find an outfit worthy of an uncle/auntie, we even had amazing props to make our story so much more authentic. As per tradition, we also planned a grand entrance with a short number inspired by Roystan Tan's short film here (check out 3:32 onwards).
While there had been great resistance and reluctance, I was really glad I did eventually go! It was a night of hilarity as we watched people make fun of themselves and cheered for colleagues cum friends. What's more, I even won a Samsung Galaxy Tab (I NEVER EVER win anything) and was part of the final 3 as we waited with bated breath for the FIRST prize winner to be announced.
When the night ended, I was so high from euphoria that I actually had difficulty sleeping. In fact, just looking through the photos puts a smile on my face all over again. =)

The Awakening (雾锁南洋):
While we didn't win best dressed team this year and I was 2 digits away from winning a pair of tickets to Las Vegas, I can honestly say that it really didn't matter. I was really happy that the winner came from our table and just being in the same consideration set was good enough.
In my mind, we outshone, outwitted and outlasted the competition, with each moment indelibly etched in my memory. *happy*
