Last Week Misgivings

"Why can't we get all the people together in the world that we really like and then just stay together? I guess that wouldn't work.
Someone would leave. Someone always leaves.
Then we would have to say good-bye. I hate good-byes.
I know what I need. I need more hellos."
–Charles M. Schulz

Of late, I have been slightly angsty. Perhaps it was the prospect of having to leave my comfort zone and grapple with the unfamiliar be it the language, a different office, my (lack of) friends. Or possibly my sluggish packing and procrastinating ways that led to a grumpier than usual nature as Monday (D-day) loomed and I was nowhere done in my packing.

In fact, I started wondering if I had overestimated my ability to get the movers in and fly out all within the same day. As I sat amidst the mess and surveyed my surroundings gloomily, I could positively feel a thunder cloud looming above me. *wallows moodily*

Nevertheless, things did fall into place eventually and when I found out that the movers would be helping us to pack our stuff and all I needed to do was to group things together, a relieved Ed was glad to finally see me brighten up.

The final day's proceedings as follows:

After a day of hectic packing, we ended at 42 boxes, 1 king size mattress as well as 4 check-in pieces.
Saying farewell to Sunset Way where we spent many weekends walking to Daily Scoops for a healthy dose of ice cream and cha bee hoon for breakfast at the nearby foodcourt. Indeed, we'll miss the lush greenery and quietness of our area.
Can't believe we made it to check in...
Blessed with friends that saw us off and a creatively done banner after I dropped numerous hints to my cell group.
Bringing a touch of home to Beijing thanks to Rui...
All set for new beginnings...
Indeed, this is a season of new beginnings and just like our home, it is time to leave this chapter behind. *closes door gently*

Like Charles Schulz, I need more Hellos...
