My Favouritest Things

In the lead-up to D-day (departure day), we were determined to maximise every meal opportunity and tuck into our favouritest foods. A largely pictorial account on what we have been up to while attempting to pack our stuff before the movers arrive on Monday. *gulps*

I first heard about Preparazzi Bar and Bistro from my colleague whose brother-in-law had won the Martell VSOP "The Ultimate Start-up Space 2011" competition and was given an opportunity to run a restaurant rent free for a year. Recalling the excellent roast pork I had ordered from his catering arm previously, was really looking forward to a repeat tasting.

There were many happy bellies that night as we devoured the wonderfully roasted (although a tad pricey) crispy pork.
Unfortunately, the crispy pork was sold out by the time our dinner party arrived and I reluctantly changed my game plan. While it was still a great meal, found the menu alittle too limited for my liking and the portions not as hearty as I would have liked. In fact, someone cleaned out his plate within 15 minutes and was eyeing my pasta. *clutches plate protectively*

For me, the desserts were definitely the stars of the show that night. We appreciated the creative development and lovely presentation of each platter, which tasted as good as they looked. Best of all, we scored complimentary slices of cheesecake which is definitely a plus in my book.

Interesting showcase of old meets new cooking [from top-left clockwise]: Tropical Floating Island, a cardamom-spiced meringue with mango mousse, cheesecake, Profiteroles with banana ice cream and gula melaka syrup, Seared duck on green pea mash, Grilled scallops with angel hair pasta coated with uni conpoy bouillabaisse and C-cup warm chocolate cake with chocolate ice cream
Our go-to place for Japanese yakitori when proximity is the key is Tenza Izakaya which never fails to perk us up. In view that this was our last week, we gave ourselves the license to indulge in fresh sashimi, grilled squid, juicy chicken wings washed down with icy cold beer.

We'll certainly miss you too!
In terms of local food, while we had a series of unfortunate incidents where stalls that shouldn't have been closed were closed *sulks*, there were definitely other options to fill up our expendable stomach space. All in all, it was a good time of indulging for a very worthy cause - coping with potential homesickness.

Local delights: [from top-left,  clockwise]: satay with pineapple salsa peanut sauce, crab beehoon, zha leong, laksa and beef noodles.

Feasting on Char Kway Teow and braised duck at Zion road, fried rice, stingray and salted egg yolk prawns at Alexandra market.

Alas, there just wasn't enough time to work through our list of favouritest things. In any case, think it's just my our excuse to eat since there's always June to finish up. Let me know if you are keen to join me for some of these food treks. =)
