Arty Afternoon

Decided to venture beyond our usual hangouts and check out Yuan Dian Art Gallery, owned by a private art collector. While I wasn't expecting MoMA (New York), it turned out to be an eye-opening afternoon perusing the work of art students.

As these pieces were a lot more affordable than what we have seen at Art District 798 or Ode to Art for that matter, we harboured hopes of potentially finally getting our very first art piece.

What caught our eye:

Although I like the idea of owning a sculpture, this might thrive better in a museum or a house with a spacious garden versus my HDB flat...

While this is a painting I won't be buying, was quite amazed at the quality of the work in view that they are just students!

Whimsical collection [top-left, clockwise]: "Starry Night" look alike, Doraemon the traveller, sweets collection and a series of animal portraits with this little girl.

Appreciated these paintings with moral undertones on the state of consumerism in this world. Unfortunately, not quite a home collectible.

Although we left empty handed, there was renewed hope of getting our hands on some affordable art since such exhibitions happen on a fairly regular basis. All in all, an enjoyable afternoon visiting a little known part of Beijing.
