Leading up to the wedding, I was actually more stressed than expected. My perpetual nightmare was that I would screw up big time at my friend's wedding, disaster would unfold and I would have singlehandedly ruined her BIG DAY. *wakes up from nightmare in cold sweat*
Hence, as Saturday morning dawned, was preparing myself mentally for the busy weekend ahead. My cross country wedding soujourn as follows:
- Drive into JB on Sat afternoon
- Attend JB dinner on Sat night
- Head to bride's family home on Sunday morning for the Xiong-dis arrival
- Cross the causeway back to Singapore to couple's home for tea ceremony
- Rush home to clean the house [Yes, I actually managed to vacumn and mop the house!]
- Dash to Singapore venue to be dinner coordinator godzilla
Besides, we were so nice in dishing out the tasks while the groom & gang were quite cooperative.
The Plan:
1. Partake in gourmet-style dining ala 酸甜苦辣
- Marshmellows stuffed with mustard and chill padi
- Gummy bear soaked in 'Apple Cider'
- Grapefuit juice mojitos with a sprig of mint leaf
- 1 guy had to sacrifice his eyebrows for tweezing
- 2 guys had to wear stockings & high heel shoes and 'catwalk' down.
3. Love declaration by the groom
- Cite 10 reasons why he loves her
- Give her 10 promises that he would keep post marriage
- Sing a love song before gaining entry
Watching the Xiongdi execute their tasks although I realised belatedly that my quoted amount must have been too low as the angpow promptly appeared without ANY BARGAINING. Subsequently, they were boasting about having alot of money left over too. *mutters at cocky xiong-dis*
In addition to the good food, really appreciated the doorgifts my friend had ranging from the cutest 'couple' key chains and a luggage tag. *nods to useful gifts*
The instant photo service was also a great idea as guests could have their fun taking pictures with the couple and collect their printed photos post wedding dinner.
I was also vastly amused at the banners that were created for my friend and her husband which lined one wall of her home and the cocktail area in JB. Having said this, the banner in JB was really quite well done. *pats friend consolingly*
The action as follows:
The warm welcome for the xiong-dis...
As mentioned, the 'ching-chong' banner that was created just for my friend...
My numerous instant photo souvenirs that I happily took home...
All in all, a memorable wedding especially since one of my closest friends was getting married.
In case you were wondering, I didn't turn into too much of a godzilla as I kept time and monitored the programme flow. In fact, my role concluded without any hiccups (I think). *phew*
