Heart Touching Lunch

A family favourite genre, we never miss an opportunity to check out new i.e untasted dim sum places. For our sunday brunch, Yanting@St Regis made it to our list after hearing fairly positive reviews.

While we hardly deviate from our usual orders like char siew sou, carrot cake and xiao long bao, adventurous us added a few more dishes like vinegar pig trotters (my mom's favourite) and crispy white bait (delish!).

Overall, the tastefully done decor and refined bite-sized snacks made it a very pleasant experience for us. Service was also definitely better than our Beijing experience and another highlight was the dessert, which was an interesting take on the usual shanghai red bean pancake. To top it off, there was the friendliest baby from the table beside us who attempted to befriend this bunch of bemused adults.

Lovely decor and art works add to the overall ambience while the honeyed cashews helped stave off hunger pangs.

Dim sum delights [from top-left clockwise]: the carrot cake wasn't too oily while the vinegar trotters had the right level of tartness. We also really enjoyed the crispy white bait and the individually plated xiao long bao was decent. The char siew sou also received a few nods of approval.

Shanghai pancake coated in a goreng pisang batter while the salted egg yolk bun was not bad. My favourite remains at Paradise Dynasty while the beef hor fun while OK didn't have enough 'wok hei'.

Check out the cool fireworks-emitting candle on the cake and the cute smiley baby...

Once again, a great way to end a Sunday before the work week beckons again.
