A Quiet Respite

Together with fellow Sushi Yoshida fans, we ventured to Aoki for their value-for-money set lunches as an end of the week treat for ourselves.

Inconspicuously located, the restaurant's interior reflected its nondescript exterior. As we entered its quiet respite, we were quickly ushered to a booth (with sliding doors offering greater privacy) that allowed for intimate conversation. For me, this was a good start to a lovely lunch.

Food-wise, it didn't disappoint as we happily tucked into a series of refreshing starters followed by our very substantial chirashi before ending with a trio of exquisite desserts. While I prefer the sashimi on top of my rice to be served in slices versus chunks, there was a good enough variety to keep me happily occupied. However, what stole the show were the desserts which my stomach valiantly made space for in spite of a very full main.

Tucking into my generously portioned Mazechirashi set...

Complementary highlights: some salad and seaweed starter in addition to the trio of desserts comprising of custard topped with caramel sauce, jelly and sorbet.
After a hassling week, it's always nice to pause and re-fuel with a hearty lunch and non-work related conversation. All in all, a great start to the weekend. Will definitely be back for more!
