1-1 at Oomphaticos

Upon hearing about the Citibank promotion (dinner only) at Oomphaticos, Ed and I decided to head there one "tingkat less" evening.

Recalling past visits, it was one of those places where I liked the decor better than the food. Although they have nice furniture I would love for my home, was definitely less excited about the food. Moreover, the menu was alittle too overwhelming such that one had difficulty reading through the menu (there were just too many sections), remembering the contents and then deciding what to order. In anticipation of the 50% discount, we decided to give this restaurant with a great ambience another shot.

Perhaps we made better selections this time round and the mains are generally better than their sandwiches/salads OR the menu offerings have since improved....but we were pleasantly surprised and more satisfied with our choices this time round. Kudos to a streamlined and more reader friendly menu too.

All in all, really enjoyed my kurobuto pork which was reminiscent of roasted pork Chinese style but with an Indian twist of vindaloo emulsion. The prawns were also a nice complement to the crispy crackling. Unfortunately, the pork was slightly over roasted and the skin was a tad dry and tough. Nevertheless, it was still worth trying!

Ed's pizza was another winner and the thin crust with generous portions of cheese and pepperoni made it worth all those additional calories.

From left (clockwise): Slow roasted crisped Kurobuta pork belly with Vindaloo emulsion, sautéed prawns, apple alumettes & balsamico; Pepperoni pizza and spicy italian salami and Potato wedges with aioli & ketchup

In view of the promotion, definitely want to go back and try their wagyu ribeye or their 120-day grain-fed sirloin stick as well as make space for their desserts.

P.S The Citibank promotion is dependent on the number of diners: 50% off for 2 diners, 33% off for 3 diners and 25% off for 4 diners and 20% off for 5 diners and above.
