The Search for Good Zhi Char

One of my favourite zhi char places is tucked away in ulu (for me) Defu Lane and I still hanker for their excellent crab beehoon ever so often. Since being wow-ed all those years ago, this stall is now all spruced up and has also expanded to higher end dining like Taste Paradise at Mosque Street and Seafood Paradise at Singapore Flyer.

Imagine my delight when I realised the Paradise Group has now opened a mid-range dining outlet, Paradise Inn at West Coast Plaza! I wasted no time in planning a visit especially since it was conveniently located on our way home from church. *hee*

Not sure if it's psychological, but I still prefer the original Defu Lane even though the same dishes were on the menu. Nevertheless, their double-boiled winter melon soup was almost as good as my mom's and their seafood fried rice was flavourful enough. The 'kong bak' pao was also decent although I did wish the portions for this dish was more generous!

From left (clockwise direction): Braised hotplate tofu, 'kong bak' pau, mango sago, double-boiled soup, veggie with 3 types of eggs and minced meat, seafood fried rice

Sigh...who am I kidding? Guess it's really time to head back to ulu Defu lane for my zhi char fix.
