Tete-a-Tete at PS. Cafe

There are many things to be thankful for tonight...

Firstly, thanks to G's perseverance, we finally managed to find a common date and time to catch up over dinner. Many (fine...I) have tried and failed to get this sorted out. Thus, trust me when I say this is a feat on its own which requires ALOT of liaising.

Secondly, just catching up with a bunch of old school friends is always a happy occasion. Besides, it's interesting to find out what has been going on especially since we have been progressing at a fairly similar pace in terms of life stages.

Finally, B's marvellous suggestion to try PS. Cafe at Palais Renaissance made me a real happy camper. As it is, I already have a weakness for their HUGE ie. value-for-money desserts and their mains didn't disappoint. However, they could have up-sized their portions slightly in view of the prices. *tsktsk*

Nevertheless, it was useful gathering household tips from G, who never fails to amaze me with her meticulous nature when completing her household chores. It was also timely getting critical wedding updates from B and of course empathizing with all that wedding-related stress.

Food-wise, the Caesar salad was THE highlight for me in terms of mains. The combination of salty and saltier flavours in addition to the different textures was a real delight. Of course, the desserts were my ULTIMATE indulgence that I'm happy to expend calories for. Life is too short to waste calories on yucky food. *urgh*

Moreover, it's a real delight to scrutinize the menu and stare at the display cases of beautifully presented cakes and pastries. As it is, I usually have difficulty deciding what to eat and this is one of those places which intensify my dilemma. Not surprisingly, I now have a list of other items I want to try when I go back for brunch/lunch/tea/dinner/post dinner. *beams*

Feast your eyes on these goodies:

Really like the decor especially the high ceilings and usage of glass which makes the whole area seem more spacious.
Mains clockwise [from top]: Mixed grill comprising of lamb, sausage and steak; Grilled fish and Caesar salad with poached egg, smoked crispy bacon and the most scrumptious crotons with freshly shaved parmesan.

Chocolate crunch doorstop cake [left] and pineapple meringue pie [right], both served with simply divine vanilla ice cream. I usually like most things chocolatey so the cake was expectedly good and sinful. The pie definitely exceeded my expectations and I remembered thinking to myself this was what a HUGE pineapple tart would taste like.

Contented beams and satiated tummies...

I can't wait to find another reason to return!
