Much ado about Cakes and Ang Pows

According to Chinese tradition (source: my mom), the girl's side should distribute cakes to accompany the giving of invite cards to close relatives as part of the "let everyone know my daughter is getting married" announcement blast.

On this day, the groom would have to come over with the mentioned cakes, give an ang pow which is meant to thank my parents for bringing me up and another ang pow for my brother to buy shoes. (Don't ask me why shoes.)

In reality, my mom helped Ed to order these cakes and he technically didn't need to bring them over since there was always the home delivery service which would do the needful.

Looking back, there was also alot of ang pow exchange going around as Ed had to give another ang pow to 'cover' the suckling pig. Lazy pple that we were, we agreed that it would be too much of a hassle to carry the pig around, hence the money in lieu of that pig. In addition, my mom had to return a few more ang pows to Ed for an assortment of reasons. It was all very confusing.

However, everything was DONE within 1 hour and we went back to doing our respective stuff while my parents embarked on a round the island trip of Singapore to deliver those cakes and cards.

Check out what my relatives got:

Scrumptious looking tarts and accompanying marble cake in pretty pink box!

Sure hope they tasted as good as they looked!
