We got summoned by our Fullerton wedding dinner coordinator to settle all outstanding decisions for the dinner and dutifully trooped down to run through the check list. In the course of 1.5 hours, we:
- Decided on what floral arrangement to have for the reception, cocktail AND banquet tables;
- Figured out what sort of floral theme we wanted for the aisle,
- Chose between red, gold and silver theme for the VIP table as well as another colour for the remaining tables;
- Selected the FAKE wedding cake tier;
- Dithered on what REAL wedding cake (fruit, chocolate brownie, vanilla) we wanted to devour; AND
- Settled on the wedding favours.
Of all the decisions I made, think I was the most excited about the wedding favours. Never saw so many cute take homes that I actually wanted for myself. She finally took pity on me and offered to let me take home this "bustier-shaped" scented sachet. *super pleased look*
Key Takeaways:
- Men are quite clueless about these delicate details - It was quite amusing to see Ed's eyes glaze over halfway through the decision-making process. Not that I'm any better but at least I was still tuned into the discussion!
- Importance of the floral arrangement, themed decor and all essential cake tier - Perhaps I give people too little credit or I'm really too unobservant. However, it did cross my mind whether people would really notice that the floral arrangement on the aisle matches my hand bouquet perfectly or behind that wedding cake tier, there was a very DELIBERATE decision made on the stacking arrangement.
- Being fed - The great thing that emerged from this lunch hour meeting was their Japanese buffet. I think she was abit taken aback at how our eyes lit up when she mentioned lunch.
Interesting wedding trivia: Some people actually freeze their wedding cakes for a WHOLE year before eating it on their wedding anniversary. Not too sure what this is supposed to mean though but I sure can't imagine my cake lasting that long without my greedy ways getting the better of me.
More than ever, I am really amazed at all that work which goes into ONE event. Beginning to also understand why people get a wedding planner cause with procrastinators like us, it is beneficial to have someone crack the whip and get ourselves going.
