Couple's Night Out

We decided this (with reference to title above) was a good enough reason to treat ourselves. With the Citibank promotion of FREE dessert buffet for every main or pasta calling out to us, we HAD to try Cova, this pretty Italian cafe at Paragon. =)

I personally suspect they are better known for their coffee, cakes and pastries. Hence, when opting for the mains, it might be best to stick to the more 'italian' items. This was evident in our selections. While Ed's breaded veal didn't quite wow us as it was a tad dry and over-fried, my squid ink tagelini with scallops and prawns was really good and I savoured every last bit.

What got me really excited though was the dessert offerings. The chocolate pear tart hit the sweet spot for me while Ed liked the various fruit tarts as well as this profiterole-topped cake. A close second would have been the chocolate raspberry tart if only they had allowed the chocolate mousse to 'set' more. Unfortunately, I think they were rushing to fill the buffet trays resulting in a sub-standard tart. *tsktsk*

Overall, it was a worthwhile visit and I would definitely return for tea with friends. The sandwiches, pizzas and other pastas might also be worth a try although if stomach space is limited, just skip straight to the desserts.

Also, do try to get there as early as possible. At 8.30 pm, alot of the cakes were disappearing like hotcakes (and they were NOT being replaced). *disappointed sniffs*

Anyways, check out the droolworthy desserts:

In a bid to get hold of the popular items, we actually started on our desserts first before the mains...

What a nice way to start the weekend!

P.S Unfortunately, this Citibank promotion ended on 14 Dec so yes, we got to enjoy this only once. *sigh*
