Date with Kim and Hugh

There was a time when HK cafes were wildly popular and I really really REALLY liked my peanut butter and condensed milk thick toast (PBCMT). Hence, I was really looking forward to trying the much heard about Kim Gary (and their long queues) located at Vivocity.

Although the PBCMT was decent and the 3 types of grilled meats in tomato baked rice was appetizing, this place stands out more for its value-for-money meals than excellent cha chan teng food. Guess I need to go back to Tong Shui cafe (at Zion road) for my good old PBCMT fix.

Here's a close-up of my favourite hot snack:

Now imagine the Tong Shui's version where peanut butter is generously slathered over the crispy on the outside and soft on the inside thick toast, topped with an extra dose of condensed milk. Unhealthy but utterly satisfying. *yum*

Nevertheless, it was a nice afternoon out with the other half (spies Ed nodding happily over the chalking up of quality time points) and I had a great time with Hugh (Jackman) aka Wolverine. *lalala*

Aside: During one of my ravings about this fabulous afternoon/supper snack, a friend wryly commented that he had this every morning for breakfast at home. How does one tell a guy that skippy peanut butter on gardenia bread is sooo not what I'm talking about... *tsktsk*
